Organizations and institutions turn to me when they are facing complex challenges that do not have obvious answers. I work at the intersection of business, environment, and society, bringing over 25 years of global experience across industry, higher education, and the field. Grounded in training across engineering, natural sciences, and behavioral science, I approach problems through rigorous systems thinking and human-centered strategy.

As a professor at the University of Colorado Boulder, I teach over 30,000 students annually and have founded and scaled some of the nation’s most recognized university programs in sustainability and responsible business.

Through Parallel Labs, my agency and advisory practice, I help organizations, startups, and institutions transition from compliance and cost management to market distinction, revenue growth, and scalable business models. I guide leaders in navigating natural capital and biodiversity challenges, managing risk, and translating complex environmental and technical innovations into compelling commercial propositions and precise narratives. My advisory work also includes serving on the global Sustainability Council for the Volkswagen Group.

Whether I am leading international bioeconomy initiatives in the Global South with partners like the NSF, CDC, and USAID, or advising executive teams and university leadership, my goal is always the same: taking complex, multi-stakeholder challenges taking complex, multi-stakeholder challenges rooted in natural and human systems and creating viable, enduring solutions.
